Understanding the Changing Rules for Expert Testimony in Florida Courts; Perfecting Your Expert Report and Your Testimony

Due to Hurricane Irma, in Florida and the surrounding areas, this chapter meeting has been cancelled.

Join the Florida Chapter of the Forensic Expert Witness Association for a discussion on the upcoming changes in the Rules of Discovery. 

 

The day will begin with sign-in, mixer and continental breakfast at 7:30 to 8:15. Program begins at 8:15 and runs until 12:30 with a mid-morning break with refreshments and snacks.

 

Topics covered include:

  • How to apply Rules of Discovery in Report Writing and Testimony
  • What your attorney needs to know to most effectively use your Report, CV and Testimony
  • What you need to know if you become a non-retained expert

Andrew P. Thompson, Esq., Thompson & Jaglal, P.A. 

 

Andrew Thompson is a founding partner of Thompson & Jaglal, P.A. in Orlando, FL. His practice concentrates on representing businesses and professionals in civil and complex commercial litigation. He has successfully tried numerous cases involving professionals and businesses in disputes ranging from contract disputes to allegations of professional malpractice. He also specializes in representing architects, engineers, and contractors in legal disputes, typically involving allegations of design or construction defects.  His clients include several current Fortune 500 companies, as well as nationwide engineering and architectural firms.  He also has represented doctors, hospitals, and assisted living facilities in medical negligence cases. He has represented apartment complexes, condominiums, and supermarkets in premises-liability cases, as well as handling administrative licensure proceedings for specialized business owners.

 

 

Born in San Antonio, Texas, and after graduating from Texas Tech University, he worked as a newspaper reporter for the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida in Gainesville. Prior to founding Thompson & Jaglal, P.A., Mr. Thompson represented clients at Bull and Associates, P.A., one of the pre-eminent construction-law firms in Central Florida.

 

Mr. Thompson is a member of the Florida Bar, and is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Florida. He has also served two terms on the Military Affairs Committee of the Florida Bar. He is named a “Rising Star” in business litigation by Florida Super Lawyers.  He is also an adjunct Professor of Law at Seminole State College, where he teaches on specialty topics in the law, including this semester on the United States Constitution.
