James R. Jim Figliulo is a trial lawyer with more than 35 years of experience in business-related litigation and a founding partner of Figliulo & Silverman. He has a track record of success in jury and bench trials in federal and state courts, and arbitrations. He has represented clients in a wide variety of business and real estate related disputes. Jim also has served as an arbitrator and mediator. He also has extensive appellate court experience, including oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, and Appellate Courts in Illinois and Arizona. Jim recently received two high honors from the Chicago legal community. In September 2015, Jim received the Judge Joel M. Flaum Award for excellence, ethics, civility and professionalism from the Chicago Inn of Court. In October 2015, Jim was honored as a recipient of the Justice John Paul Stevens Award for excellence, integrity and public service by the Chicago Bar Association and Chicago Bar Foundation. Jim was honored by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin as one of the “Ten Attorneys Who Raised the Bar:” during the last decade for making extensive contributions to the legal profession. He also was featured as the cover story in Leading Lawyers Magazine’s 2009 Business Litigation edition.  Jim received the prestigious American Inns of Court Professionalism Award for the 7th Circuit in 2010. Jim is a founder, past president, and Master of the Bench of the Chicago Inn of Court.

 

Jim served as president of the 7th Circuit Bar Association in 2005-06. He also served as co-chair of the 7th Circuit American Jury Project. Jim chaired and served as a member of Federal Magistrate Judge Merit Selection and Review Panels for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois for 10 years. Jim also was selected to serve as a member of U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk’s Judicial Advisory Committee. Jim has been a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers since 1999 and served as Chair of its Upstate Illinois State Committee (2009-2010). He presently serves on the National Admissions Committee and continues to serve on the State Committee. Jim is presently serving as Chair of the Illinois Supreme Court Rules Committee. Jim is a member of the Board of Trustees of the United States Supreme Court Historical Society.

 

Jim co-edited a book on cross-examination titled Your Witness: Lessons on Cross-Examination and Life from Great Chicago Trial Lawyers, a collection of 50 courtroom stories by 50 of Chicago’s best trial lawyers. The collection includes Jim’s piece on a key turning point in a trial that involved McDonald’s Corporation’s franchise rights in France. Your Witness has drawn high praise from prominent members of the legal profession and the community at large.

 

 

 

Steven J. Rotunno, Esq. has more than three decades of experience representing corporations, partnerships and financial services professionals in complex and wide-ranging legal matters, including investment advisory services, securities matters, employment law, title insurance claims and general commercial litigation.

 

He represents clients before federal and state courts, as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission, New York Stock Exchange, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, and the American Arbitration Association in issues involving restrictive covenants, regulatory investigations  and business disputes. He provides counsel to individuals and registered investment advisory firms in connection with mergers and acquisitions and preparing the Form ADV, client investment management agreements, compliance manuals and other necessary documents. He also serves as an arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

 

Steve is a frequent speaker on business issues, including the ever-evolving securities regulatory environment, restrictive covenants in employment agreements, business succession plans and contract enforcement.

 

 

Jerry M. Santangelo is a partner with Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP.  He represents individuals and corporations in investment and employment disputes including securities and commodities lawsuits, regulatory matters, restrictive covenants and trade secrets cases, “raiding” disputes in the financial services industry, complex commercial disputes including class action lawsuits and defending employment-related claims, including, by way of example, claims by former employees for discretionary bonuses, restituted stock and options awards, claims of discrimination and harassment.

 

Jerry has litigated and tried a wide range of cases in arbitration and federal and state courts throughout the country. He has represented securities brokerage firms and brokers in hundreds of different matters. Jerry has personally tried over 125 securities arbitrations, including many customer disputes and employment-related matters, that went to judgment, and has received four arbitration awards of attorneys’ fees against claimants who brought customer disputes against broker/dealers.

 

While in law school, Jerry was lead articles editor for the DePaul Law Review.

 

Jerry is an active member of the Legal and Compliance Division of the Securities Industry Association.
