He is responsible for multiple other recoveries of a million dollars or more. In the earlier stages of his career, Mr. Shuman practiced in the fields of insurance coverage, insurance defense and general business matters. During the 1990's he was one of about three attorneys in Southern California with expertise in jewelry insurance.

Mr. Shuman received his J.D. in 1978 from UCLA Law School, where he was a member of the UCLA Law Review. He received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside, graduating in three years with highest honors.
