Will Courtroom Bias Cost You Your Next Case?

Join us for a webinar presented by FEWA member Michael Wakshull, M.Sc., CQE, a Forensic Document Examiner. He will give a special presentation on courtroom bias, and relay methods to be incorporated by all testifying experts in order to overcome bias. The presentation will overview the following concepts:

  • Define motivational bias and cognitive bias
  • Describe how biases occur
  • Present examples of biases
  • Show methods for overcoming bias
  • How bias impacts the jury's perspective

We all have biases, learn to overcome yours and deliver a foolproof testimony with FEWA at this webinar. 



Speaker(s)

Mike Wakshull is immediate past president of the FEWA San Diego chapter and is co-chair of the 2015 FEWA conference.

Mike is a forensic document examiner who has worked on cases from nine states. He holds a master’s degree in technology management and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. The subject of his master’s capstone project was “The effects of bias on manager’s decisions.”

Mike has presented the topic of courtroom bias at international forensics conferences and local professional associations, including FEWA.

He previously managed information systems governance and corporate quality risk management at Amgen and lead implementation of global risk management procedures for Abbott Vascular.
